Boston Harbor Islands National Park - The breathtaking natural resources of this 17-island state park are part of the 34-island Boston Harbor National Park Area. The means of transportation use is by ferry with a 45 minutes ride only from downtown Boston. The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) runs seventeen of the islands. During summer and weekends in the spring and fall, six of the 17 islands and Webb state park a 36-acre neck of land in Weymouth are open for the visitors.

The tourists can see lots of tourist attractions in the park like easy hiking trails, old hay fields with wild bayberry, raspberry and elderberry. This park also has an old road to historic foundations and forts; tourists also enjoy the beaches and picking shells. For those who want to have their picnic, the park has the shady parts like the trailside benches and on woody paths. Dorchester, Quincy, Hull and Hingham Bays, the Blue Hills, Boston’s skyline, 34 islands, and outward to Massachusetts Bay are the significant and beautiful harbor views. The Resident Park Managers/ Interpreters manage the island during the year. They also offer island tours, and constant educational activities and special affair.

There are a number of restrictions at the Park that must be followed, so it is better to plan well first before going to the island. There is no available shop for beverages or foodstuffs. Composting toilets are available and binging of pets is strictly prohibited on any part of islands in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. From late June to early September, overnight camping is allowed but only on selected islands, like Grape, Bumpkin, and Lovells. Enjoy the prehistoric camping experience on the islands. The kind of weather in the harbor are typically cooler compared those on the mainland. At George Islands, docking space for private vessels is accessible but with limited space only and on a first-come, first-serve regulation. Piers are accessible for off-loading only on all other islands and small pushchairs are accessible for those who will anchor offshore.
